As the JH6 nights have become a go to boogie cult we just need to make sure there enough room in the room, so to speak.  We’re thrilled an super happy the evenings so popular, it’s so we can get some ideas of how many cool Jazz’ers are coming down so we can staff properly.

Of course, we’ll have the piped to perfection music outside and when required an outside bar. Which of course, you don’t need a ticket to attend.

From Sheffield (mostly), the ‘Jazz Hot Six’ are some of the UK’s finest musicians. Between them, they have played with some of the greatest names in the UK and international music scenes (Van Morrison, John Martyn, Richard Hawley, Peter Green, Duane Eddy, Ray Charles, Roger Daltrey, Nick Lowe, Tanita Tikaram and many more).

They all share a passion for great swinging music and have come together to perform songs and tunes that will get your feet moving and your smile smiling. They play everything from early (1930s-40s) traditional Gypsy Swing through to the bebop era of the early ‘50s and beyond, with hints of Western Swing thrown in for good measure. It makes for a very exciting and varied repertoire!

They will be bringing their energetic swinging style to The Dorothy Pax on the first Tuesday of every month (apart from January when they’ll be playing on the 16th instead). The aim is to build up a regular night in Sheffield, creating an atmosphere and a reputation that will bring lovers of great music from all around.
