Oma’s Apotheke is a brand-new jazz quartet combining award-winning musicians from across Europe in a unique quartet formation. In their U.K. appearances, the band will be presenting original music from the contemporary and traditional jazz canon. The line up consists of:
Samantha Wright – Clarinet
British born clarinettist and composer who’s critically acclaimed first album “How about Now?” was released in 2019. Alongside being an ‘Jodyjazz’ artist and driving force behind the band IVYMIND, she is also an active presence at international clarinet forums, where she regularly presents her research.
Clémence Manachère – Flute
Winner of the 2024 Werner Burkhardt Music Prize and leader of Hamburg based quartet “UNTERWASSER”, Clémence is an active composer and musician now based in Hamburg, having previously been based in Paris, Mexico City, Brazil and Berlin.
Tommy Fuller – Double Bass
Tommy Fuller, originally from Barnsley, now resides in Switzerland where he’s studying under renowned American bassist Larry Grenadier. Alongside his own projects, he is an in-demand bass player having performed on over fifteen albums to-date alongside touring regularly with his own projects: “Happenstance” and “Collidescope”.
Alex Petratos – Drums
Based in Hamburg, Germany, drummer, band leader, and composer Alex Petratos draws from a diverse musical background spanning swing, bebop, avant-garde, punk, folk, and classical genres. His rich experience fuels his unique improvisational style and creative vision culminating in his current project ‘Strings and Lutes’.
